Lucy Nemeth

Marketing Officer

Lucy Nemeth is a violinist from the Bay Area, California, who loves storytelling, connecting, and communicating through chamber music.

Lucy is a founding member of the Lyra Quartet, praised by Pan M 360 for their “rigorous and profoundly human” interpretations and “impeccable phrasing.” Finalists in the 2024 McGill Chamber Competition, the quartet recently performed at the Canadian Architecture Centre and in the Schulich in the Neighborhood concert series. That same year, they were awarded Emerging Artist Fellowship at the Garth Newel Music Center and a full scholarship to the Tuckamore Music Festival. Lucy has also appeared at the Valley of the Moon, ENCORE, Bowdoin, and Mendocino festivals, and held residencies at Musaics of the Bay and Soaring Arts Music Collective.

Inspired by the process of bringing new works to life, Lucy has premiered works by Fiona Marchetto, Skylar Baysa, and Sarah Barone, and recently served as concertmaster for Opera McGill’s production of Judith Weir’s Blond Eckbert. In addition to classical projects, she loves exploring cross-genre collaborations, frequently performing with jazz musicians at McGill and recording scores for student films.

Equally committed to education and community, Lucy looks for meaningful ways to bring music into everyday spaces. She has performed in daycares, healthcare facilities, and community concerts across Montreal, including a free pop-up café performance with the Lyra Quartet and events with La SAMS, an organization that presents live music in healthcare settings across Quebec. At home in California, Lucy interned at Oakland Unified School District’s Summer Music Camp and coached beginner string quartets as a fellow at the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra’s summer camp.

Lucy holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance with a minor in Music History from McGill University. She will continue her studies with Jinjoo Cho, starting her Master’s at Northwestern this fall with the support of the Eckstein Music Scholarship.

Lucy plays a 2017 violin made by Anthony Lane in Petaluma, California.
